Opening Doors.
Reaching People.
Early in 2011 our Board began a process to examine our ministries and discover what non-essential parts of our church may be keeping us from reaching un-churched people. It was essential in whatever moves we might make, that we maintain biblical truth and the major elements of our call as Christ's church to the communities we serve.
On October 2, Louie introduced three barriers we would like to remove to assist us in opening doors and reaching people:
how we are known
how we express what we believe
how we are experienced by young families
All members are invited into this process so we can make decisions together. This page is to assist you in making a thorough assessment of the proposals and giving helpful input.
SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING
Thank you to all of those who participated at the special business meeting on February 12. As a leadership team we are excited to move forward based on these decisions to make disciples and to reach people who do not know Jesus. The membership chose to keep our name as Blythefield Hills Baptist Church, to update our confessional statement and to move forward with the building renovations. We appreciate your continued prayer and support.
All members are encouraged to attend a special business meeting on Sun, Feb 12 at 7:15pm in the Worship Center.
The following items are on the agenda:
1. Voting new members into the BHBC family
2. Opening Doors. Reaching People.
Proposal One: Change how we are known as a church by removing Baptist from our church name. Going forward we would be known as Blythefield Hills Church.
Proposal Two: Change how we express what we believe by adding a confessional statement that follows the storyline of the Bible to our founding confessional statement.
Proposal Three: Change how families experience us by reconfiguring key parts of our building and campus to enhance ministry efforts inside and outside our church. Approval of his proposal will allow our existing building fund to be used for these projects up to a limit of two million dollars. The desired improvements will be prioritized and done as people give to the building fund up to the two million dollar limit of this proposal.
If you are not able to attend this meeting, you may obtain absentee ballots at the Information Desk on Feb 5 and 12 (or at the church office during those weeks). Only members will be allowed to speak and vote but attenders are welcome to this business meeting.
