Short Term Missions
God is using short-term missionaries to help meet the needs in the harvest field. Short-term missions can be a dynamic and unique opportunity to live out your faith. In just one week you can reach out in meaningful ways to others right here in our own community and beyond.
Are You Interested In Short Term Missions?
If you have an interest in short-term missions, BHBC missions committee has a process for you to follow in order to receive financial help. This process needs to be completed at least two months prior to your departure date. Simply download the
Short-term Mission Application and return it to Deb Schelhaas in the church office, or email

Senior Serve | March 28 - April 5
On our annual Senior Serve to Costa Rica, we partner with Alianza Cristiana y Misionera San Francisco de Dos Rios (a church in San Jose) and Bob and Sandy Hannah in order to serve the people of San Jose. This year, our students will be serving through construction projects, working with children in the barrio of Guizaros, and running an outreach soccer camp. Our goal for our seniors is that through this experience, they would grow in their awareness of global missions, be equipped for the challenges of their college years, and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Copper Island | July 6-16
EV, BHBC's post college group, has had the privilege and joy to travel to Copper Island Adventure Camp, near Vancouver, British Columbia, for the past five years to minister to First Nation kids, grade school - senior high. We have grown to love and understand the mission of the camp,
Restoring the name of the Lord, where it was once used to abuse. This year we are providing Jr High week with counselors and support staff. Join us in prayer for this wonderful opportunity. Q?s contact

Total Impact | July 9-14
Its all about making an impact...on the community, on God's kingdom and even on yourself. This trip offers a group of 8th grade students the chance to taste what it is like to live your life for something bigger than themselves. We spend the week in Grant, Michigan working with Pastor Pepe to reach out to the Hispanic migrant community and share with them the heart of God. From sweaty work projects to pouring out love to kids in a VBS camp, students are stretched and challenged to give themselves away for a week of their summer. Details on how you can be a part of this impact contact

Alaska Team
Week 1 | Teen Pursuit week at Tananlian Bible Camp in Port Alsworth, our sixth year serving. We will be cooking, cleaning, doing music, and counseling. Prayer needs: for us as we anticipate challenging hiking, lack of sleep and other physical activities with the campers; that God will give the counselors on our team the strength to pour into these young people; that during our team time after camp, we are refreshed, encouraged and that a bear doesn't eat anyone!
Week 2 | We serve at Illiamna and Levelock ministering at the church and putting on our third year of basketball camp, 3 sessions/day. Some students are not allowed to go to church, but they are allowed to come to b-ball camp. We help with music at the church, sharing God's Word and love, giving t-shirts and making fun certificates for the campers. We provide crafts for the little ones who get bumped and don't want to play for awhile. Prayer needs: that we can continue to build trust with these students and have opportunities to speak to them personally as well as in the big group; that the hearts of the campers will find healing in Jesus; that we will be humble instruments of God as we are stretched out of our comfort zones.
